Palace on Wheels starts its signature journey from the capital of the country, Delhi (Safdarjung Railway Station). This itinerary is covering two Indian states, multiple architectural structures and some of the most beautiful sceneries and natural wealth of India.

This 7 Nights / 8 Days trip is the right vacation to cover every element of Indian tourism. The trip covers Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Chittorgarh, Sawai Madhopur and Bharatpur of Rajasthan. Out of Rajasthan, it covers the Mughal paradise, Agra (Taj Mahal). The trip starts and ends in Delhi.

Palace on Wheels is a luxury train that takes travelers on a week-long journey through some of India’s most renowned tourist destinations. The train is equipped with all the amenities and services one would expect from a five-star hotel, making it the perfect way to experience the culture and history of India in style.

The Train

The Palace on Wheels is a luxury train that was launched on 26 Jan 1982 by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation. There are a total of 41 cabins in the train out of which 2 are Super Deluxe category and the rest are deluxe. The train consists of 22 coaches out of which 14 coaches are for guests, each of which is named after a different former princely state of India. The train also has two restaurants named “The Maharajah” and “The Maharani” and a lounge, bar and Spa. The restaurants serve both Indian and international cuisine, and the lounge bar offers a selection of Indian and international alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Day 1 (Wednesday): Delhi

The train departs from Safdarjung Railway Station, New Delhi every Wednesday. The Reporting time is before 16:00. The Check-in process starts after the traditional welcome ceremony as per Indian traditions with Tikka Turban and Garlanding. The Train will start from the Delhi Station towards Jaipur by 18:30.

Day 2 (Thursday) : Jaipur – The Pink City

After arrival in the morning, Breakfast will be served at 07:00 and by 08:00 vehicles will be ready for excursion. At first you will receive traditional Rajasthani Royal Welcome with Garlands, Kali Ghodi Dance and other. The sightseeing includes the attractions as Albert Hall Museum, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, Jantar Mantar and others. Lunch will be served at 13:30 in 1135 AD old restaurant inside Amber Fort. Enjoy Elephant ride at Amber Fort and in evening shop for the Jewellery, handicrafts and trinkets. Get back to the train by 19:00. Dinner will be serve at 19:30 in the train. By 20:00, the train will start its Journey towards Sawai Madhopur. Overnight stay in the train.

Day 3 (Friday) : Sawai Madhopur – Chittorgarh

One arrival at morning, The excursion will start at 6:00 (before breakfast). Enjoy the early morning jeep safari which is the the best of Ranthambore National Park,your vehicle will be waiting for safari to experience the explosive tiger and other flora and fauna.

After safari, Return back to train and breakfast will be served at 10:00 in the morning. After breakfast train will start at 10:20 towards the next destination, Chittorgarh. Lunch will be served during the journey.The train will reach at Chittorgarh by 15:00. Explore the comely Chittorgarh Fort which still resonate the stories of Rajputana stoutheartedness. After Sightseeing High Tea and Refreshment will be provided inside the fort. Enjoy the Light & Sound program at 18:00. Onwards at 20:00 You will be taken back to the train by 20:00 for a delicious dinner. Overnight stay at Chittorgarh

Day 4 (Saturday) : Udaipur - The City of Lakes

The train will commence from Chittorgarh and reaches to Udaipur by 7:00 in the morning. Breakfast will be served at 7:30. Udaipur Sightseeing will start at 09:00.Enjoy the excursion of Saheliyon ki Bari, City Palace, Crystal Gallery. Around 13:00, you will be taken to Fateh Prakash Hotel for delicious lunch. By 14:00 enjoy the boat ride on Lake Pichola to reach Jag Mandir Palace, where high tea will be served.Get back to the train by 15:30. The train will commence towards Jaisalmer at 16:00. Overnight stay in the train and delicious dinner will be served on board.

Day 5 (Sunday) : Jaisalmer - The Golden City

The train will reach Jaisalmer by 9:00 in the morning. Breakfast will be served at 7:30. In sightseeing you will cover Nathmal ji ki Haveli, Gadisar Lake, Patwon ki Haveli, Jaisalmer Fort and Heritage City Walk. After lunch you will be taken to enjoy camel safari at Sam sand dunes at 16:00.High tea will be served after safari.You will reach train by 19:00. After a little refreshment, you will be taken to Gorbandh Palace for dinner with live cultural program. Get back to the train for overnight stay.Train will start the onwards journey to Jodhpur immediately.

Day 6 (Monday) : Jodhpur - The Blue City

The Train will arrive at Jodhpur railway station in the morning, Have breakfast at the train, by 09:00 the coaches and cars will be ready for excursion. Before lunch, you will be taken to explore the famous attractions of Jodhpur covering Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jaswant. By 13:30, lunch will be served at luxurious Ajit Bhawan Palace. You will be taken back to the train by 16:00.

The train will start its onward journey towards Bharatpur by 16:30. Dinner will be served on board at 19:30. Overnight stay in the train.

Day 7 (Tuesday) : Bharatpur - Agra

The train will reach Bharatpur early in the morning. You will be taken on an early excursion to Keoladeo National Park also known as “Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary” for a rickshaw safari (before breakfast) by 6:30. It is a heaven for bird. After safari, you will be taken back to the train by 8:45 AM and breakfast will be served shortly. By 9 AM, the train will commence its journey towards the last attraction of the itinerary, Agra. The train reaches the marble paradise by 11:00 AM. Before lunch, you will process to Agra fort for exploration. Lunch will be served at Deluxe hotel at 13:30. By 15:00, you will be taken to One of the Seven wonders of the world – Taj Mahal for sightseeing.

Dinner will be served at 19:30. The train starts its final journey towards Delhi at 20:45. Rest of the day is free for enjoying the facilities and amenities at train.

Day 8 (Wednesday) : Delhi

The train reaches Delhi Safdarjung railway station by 2:30. The breakfast will be served by 6:00 in the morning and checkout formalities starts by 7:30 with a royal farewell.
